Who we are

AlbGoRentals rents cars in Albania and is responsible for the details you give us on this site.

What we collect

When you book: your name, your email address, your telephone number and its country, the car, the dates and places of collection and return, any extras, the total, the language you booked in, and whether you agreed to receive your confirmation on WhatsApp.

We do not ask for a payment card on this site: you pay when you collect the car. We do not ask you to upload a driving licence or an identity document: your licence is checked in person at collection. There are no customer accounts and no passwords.

Why we use it

To make your booking and carry out the rental, which is the contract between us. To send you the confirmation and write to you about the booking. To keep the records a business has to keep. And to keep the site working for everybody, which includes checking that a booking is made by a person and limiting how many requests one address can make.

We do not use your details for advertising and we do not sell or rent them to anybody.

Who else receives it

Google (Gmail), which delivers the emails we send you, receives your email address and the content of the confirmation.

A copy of each booking is also emailed to our own office mailbox, so that a booking can never be lost. It holds the same details, and we delete it when they are removed from the booking.

Cloudflare, which protects the site and runs the check that a person is booking, sees the internet address you connect from.

We use WhatsApp to run bookings. When a booking is made our office may be alerted there, and we may send you your confirmation there or write to you about your booking; WhatsApp (Meta) then receives your name, your telephone number and the booking details. The automatic confirmation is not sent if you untick that choice on the booking form.

The company that hosts our server, in the European Union, stores the data on our behalf. Nobody else receives it unless the law requires us to hand it over.

Searches and cookies

When somebody searches for a car we record what was asked for — the dates, the places and which cars were free — so that we know what customers wanted and could not have. Nothing in that record says who asked: your internet address is cut down to its network and turned into a code that changes every day and cannot be turned back.

We also count visits to the site, on our own server: which kind of page was opened, the site you came from, your country, whether you used a phone or a computer, and the language. This is counted the same anonymous way, with no tracking script and no cookie, and nothing in it says who you are.

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. The security check may set a cookie that is strictly necessary for it to work.

How long we keep it

Your name, email address and telephone number are removed from a booking two years (730 days) after the rental ends. What remains is the car, the dates and the price, which no longer identify anybody.

Emails and messages we have sent are deleted from our system after 90 days, and any that could not be delivered go when your details are removed from the booking.

What you can ask of us

You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to erase it. Write to [email protected] from the address you booked with, or message us on WhatsApp from the number you booked with, so that we know the request is yours. We answer within 30 days.

A booking that is still to happen cannot be erased while it stands, because we could not hand you the car; cancel it first, or ask us after the rental.

If you think we have handled your details wrongly you can complain to Albania’s Information and Data Protection Commissioner (idp.al).

Changes to this page

If what we do with your details changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated.
